Just outside of New Orleans the swamp is ever present,
and I am once again driving on bridges.
Just to the East of New Orleans the swamp sinks away
to form Lake Pontchartrain.
Finally back on dry land as I enter Mississippi.
Further into Mississippi the forests grow think right
up to the road.
At the first rest stop in Mississippi they advertised
a scenic view. I think this is it. The foreground was trees covered with
moss, and the back ground was a huge wetland of reeds.
The trees here are covered in moss, but provide great
shade on this hot day.
I took a bit of a walk around the rest stop to stretch
and take some pictures of the flora.
Back onto bridges. This is the one over the Pascagoula
river. For you movie buffs, if you saw Renaissance Man (with Danny Devito,
and Mark Whalberg) Pascagoula is where Whalberg's character is from. Yes
it is as small as it sounds. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend the
movie.
Still over the Pascagoula river
This is the bridge over the Tensaw River in Alabama.
And this is the river itself.
I guess I was a little optimistic to think I was
back on dry land.
But finally as I enter Georgia I am off the network
of bridges and close to Atlanta.
